Funny, sad and truly imaginative, I love the world Robert Cargill has created here. The book picks up pace, with some of the same faces but plently of new ones jumping on for the ride. An old wrong is trying to be righted generations after the fact. New creatures and lots of Australian lore (which was new to me) with already established characters being dragged in to sort it all out, or else! The characters are what really makes these books come alive, none are perfect heroes or villians, but somewhere believably inbetween (impressive considering most of them are supernatural beings). I want to see many more books from this series please!
A very enjoyable read. This sequel expands on the first book, bringing a grander scale and more world building. It has a fast pace and interesting characters, bringing back faves and introducing new ones. The author still seems to be good at tugging at the heart strings occasionally too. All that needs to be said really is if you liked the Dreams and Shadows you will undoubtedly like this too.
Brilliant dark fairy tale with all sorts of myths, demons and scary beasties. Just like the first book it's hard to put down and has a really satisfying ending, I hope there will be more from this world.
Such a fantastic modern fantasy novel. Nothing about this was familiar or rehashed from other genre pieces. The endlessly inventive narrative is coupled with a cracking pace that made this the finest read I've had in a while.
This was an utterly fantastic sequel and a tale that could stand on it's own merits. Cargill has outdone himself and is carving a great place for himself amongst modern day aficionados of mythology and urban fantasy. Eagerly awaiting the next sequel.
A tight and accomplished sequel that continues to build on the world created in Dreams and Shadows. Funny, emotional with all characters being just the right shade of grey to keep you guessing through all its twists.
