Good read but no where near as good as the best. Plus been waiting years for book 3... I would wait till its finished!

I am doing the review years after reading the two books but they are still fresh in my memory, thats says it all, they are good but why not 5 stars? Because the story falls short for me. It gets interesting and then the hero has to moves on, many examples of this such as when things get interesting at uni or with the florean or with the noble man that asks for help, kvothe has to move on and that is frustrating for me... Best thing about it is the one POV, you really get to know the hero and his daily struggle to survive. His struggle to pay university fees is a lingering problem but has been solved some what by end of book two.... Been waiting for book 3 for a while now...
The present day and flash backs make up two parts of the story, the hero is dictating his story, the present day simple life of the hero just gets in the way. The inn keeper, who has a demon servant is intriguing but ultimately boring, even his struggles with the spidery things at start of book one is not that good. Things get to a good part in flash backs and they start baking bread etc for the customers...
One major point of concern... Book 3 is late, by a few years and even the most loyal of fans are worried how everything is going to get wrapped up in the last instalment?
Would I wait until it is finished? That depends... Hardly any descent stories out there, sci fi fantasy, even fiction as a whole is full full of just okay stories, real brilliance is hard to come by and when you find it, like this, often it remain unfinished for most of ones life, so dive in if you have nothing else to read but eat well, plenty of exercise and hopefully we will survive long enough to read the ending... Gingers crossed.
