I collect books by and about Plath and so I was pleased to be able to buy this book. However, I was slightly disappointed when I read it. Although the book is a fair size, the editor/book designer choose to make the size of the printed drawings quite small on the page. This is very unlike most art books, where each image is given as much of the page as possible. I can only make a guess at the reason. It appears to be a direct reprint of the catalogue for the exhibition and sale of the drawings. Gallery catalogues tend to make the images small on each page. Simply reprinting it without resizing the images to fill each page was more than a bit of lazy effort on the part of Faber. After all, since all publishing is now designed on computers it wouldn't have taken much effort to make the images larger for this edition.
Badly done, Faber. You'll never compete with Phaiden and other art publishers by making such mistakes.
Even so, it is nice to have a book of Plath's drawings.
