Antoni's _Blessed is the Fruit_ is one of the best recent novels I've read, not just one of the best novels published by a writer of the Caribbean diaspora. It is a meticulously crafted book, and the writing is simply breathtaking, even more so than it is in _Divina Trace_, Antoni's first novel. Here is a writer of serious literary talent whose novels offer profound insights into the personal and cultural layers of human emotions. This isn't just a novel about an exotic Caribbean island; it is much more than that. One can only hope that Faber & Faber keeps Antoni's novels in print for many readers to enjoy.
