No-one collecting these volumes will be disappointed. Great insights and full of interest.

My only, carping, comment is that it is a shame the publishers have not kept the dust cover the same colour as the earlier volumes.

I have just been given Vol 4 and there is a great prospect for future volumes to enjoy a more relaxed editorial hand. (And the dust cover has change colour yet again!)

This book and its companion volume 4 (which I ordered at the same time) are examples of British publishing at its best. They reveal the range of Eliot's activities and of his emotional life and so complement the poetry and criticism is many interesting ways. But I count myself lucky to have received them. They were left in the porch of a house with the right number in the WRONG STREET and it was simply as the result of the kindness and persistence of the carer of the elderly resident of that house that my telephone number was discovered and I was invited to collect it.
