a wonderful book that takes you step by step through paul's life and theology. it is a highly approachable work written in a clear style and for its size offers so much to the reader that it goes far beyond a mere introduction. i'm reading and rereading it just for the delight, the only let down is that it is far too short, i look forward to a sequel ;)

This is a very good introduction to the study of Paul, looking at both traditional approaches and interpretations as well as the new perspectives. Without ever getting too technical, Horrell looks at various issues concerning authorship of some of the letters and the translation/ interpretation of some key Greek terms.

I highly recommend it to all who want to study the works of this key figure in early Christianity whose writings still influence and guide us today.

I've preached on Paul for many years, but some of the current academic debate was new to me. In this book, Horrell does the work for you of highlighting various trends in current study. I'm sure its on every seminary Bibliography for Pauline studies.
