Purchased this for my teenage son to accompany the hugely popular television by the BBC. A wonderful full colour book showing the rich and diverse treasures of the museum. Suitable for older children and adults.
This book was published to accompany the BBC series of the same name.It is of the same high standard that is expected and required from the Natural History museum but it should have been printed on gloss paper, not matt paper, to enhance the pictures. The book outlines the work of the museum with its 70 million specamins both here and abroad. There are 6 sections 1)museum for a modern world 2)digging up the past 3) all creatures great and small 4)the power of insects 5)lifes diversity and 6)the living future. All sections are well written, researched and illustrated but more attention should be paid publication presentation. On a final note-too much attention paid to Darwin and not enough to Wallace.
