If you enjoyed the incredible television series of the same name, then you simply have to add this book to your library. Just for good measure, after watching the series and buying the book, I then bought the TV series on video! Of course a great deal of guesswork has gone into all this, because we can never know for sure what colour these creatures were or exactly what sounds they made, but the producers have done a great job working within the limits of the info available to them such an unimaginably long time after the event. The book is a feast of fascinating photo's and must make anybody wonder about these animals who ruled the world long before man. If this book doesn't make a dinofan out of you, nothing will!

One of the best books I have ever read about dinosaurs. The best way to enjoy it, is of course to read it as you see the stunning TV series (Video or DVD). But the book also can stand alone with it's authoritative text and superb illustrations.
As an introduction to dinosaur worlds, you can do no better. And if anyone is interested in finding more about those magnifiscent creatures, the "Walking with Dinosaurs - The Evidence" and "Walking with Dinosaurs - facts" are always there.

When I first got this book for Christmas I was over the moon. It was the best present I had recieved in ages. At the time I was finishing The Lord Of The Rings by JRR Tolkien. I intended to finish it before I started Walking With Dinosaurs but when I read just a paragraph I got hooked. It's beautiful pictures combine with first class up-to-date, informative text makes this now one of the most interesting books I own.

My son has been a dinosaurs fan since he was a toddler, so the BBC series and book are a big hit in our house. The pictures in the book are fantastic (like they are in the tv series!), and there is lots of additional information. So, if you are a dino-fan, you shouldn't miss out on this book!

An excellent book that reflects the quality of the BBC series. My daughter loves anything to do with dinosaurs....so this was going to be her present this Christmas. It still will be her present, but I will be reading it just as much as her ! Congratulations to the BBC for a brilliant series and equally excellent book.

I have read many books on Dinosaurs, but this is one of the few to stand out from the crowd. Acompanying the TV series of the same name, this book adds some depth to the excellent series, explaining some of the details which didn't fit into the half hour episodes. Unlike most books on Dinosaurs, this one does not try to list all known species of dinosaur. Instead, it looks at snapshots in time, with each of the six chapters being dedicated to a different period. As a result, it covers a limited number of species in quite a lot of detail, but it also shows how different dinosaurs interacted with each other. The pictures are excellent, combining the latest CG effects with photographs of the most prehistoric locations available today. There are also lots of side panels explaining which bits are known facts, and wich bits they had to guess from available clues. If you are within BBC's coverage, this book is an excellent acompanyment to the series. If not, it is a good way to whet your apetite until it is released on Video and DVD.

This the first of 2 books issued to accompany the BBC series "Walking with Dinosaurs".
The book covers the dinosaur era,255-65 million years ago, which followed the reptile era and preceded the mammel era.
There are 6 chapters 1) new blood 2)time of the titans 3)a cruel sea 4)Beneath a giants wings 5)spirits of the silent forest and 6)death of a dynasty.
All very well wrritten and esearched but many of the illustrations are far to dark.

I have bought the book after having seen the first part of this brilliant documentary. It should really accompany the series as it explains how some of the conclusions that outraged serious scientists were reached rather than just present the fiction as facts. If you want just brilliant entertainment, watch the series on TV, if you want a better inside, buy the book.
