4.0 out of 5 stars

The arrival of a new Nigel Jackson work was always a pleasure when I worked at an esoteric bookshop. This latest work is in book form only with line drawings of the major trumps. Many works on the subject mention the myths about the origin of the cards and ignore the latest research on the genuine origins of medieval symbolism. Not so here. We learn about the game of tarot and the stations of man. We journey through the cardinal virtues and the apocalytic final cards. The author displays not only scholarship but a real understanding of the spiritual life of the late middle ages and this is far more magical than the later legends.

If it was a bit bigger I would award five stars but I believe that the author aims for a clear introduction to the the ideas and in this he succeeds.
