This book makes most of my electronics library redundant
on 29 November 2015
I liked the first edition for the anecdotic style when I borrowed it several times from the library. After some rereadings, the stories become redundant.
At first, when I bought the third edition, I missed that style, but not for long. This edition has matured and is more adapted to use as a reference to find solutions to real design problems. It is not complete, but then that is impossible. Items as crosstables of opamps and other devices are really invaluable as you rarely find them in liturature. When theory is needed, the formula is there, but the approach is hands-on . Two big problems: too heavy to carry and too exquisit to use in the field. By registering at Cambridge University Press, one can download the full chapter 9 on voltage regulation and power conversion. The biggest merit of this book, and more specific, this edition, to me, is that it is helping to develope an organic feeling for electronics. And that, indeed, is to be considered an Art.
