A well thoughtout and ordered textbook charting the lives of stars. All mathmatical material is well explained and derrived from first principals. Stellar evolution is covered in detail at each stage from birth, to main sequence and death. The main sequence lives are covered in particular detail charting the energy processes inside the stars and dispelling some common myths regarding what powers and ignites stars. Aimed at 3rd year students, although will remain with me always as refernce material.

This certainly no book for beginners in astronomy. You would need a good understanding of the working of stars and their composition to follow this. A good understanding of basic Physics and Maths as well.
However the book explains all very clearly, so even the page long equations are laid out step by step to follow. Questions throughout the book have the answers in the back. As with all OU books, good value for money.
