Questionable selection policy from the editors
23 April 2017
This book looked promising but in the end it proved pretty dissapointing. My two stars are purely for the technical features of this book. High quality printing, great pictures. BUT...Too much space was filled with the pre-1980 era. I have big question marks about the "selection policy" the editors applied when picking the pictures and shirts. What got into them when they decided not to add mythical shirts like those from Fassa Bortolo (Petacchi, Flecha, Cancellara et all), Team Telekom (the Magenta Express) and then T-Mobile, with Zabel, Ullrich, Vinokourov and Cavendish) not to forget Team Milram (also Petacchi and Zabel). These were as least as "Iconic" as the Faema, Molteni and Peugeot jersyes. Is a possible reason that this book was made with mainly the Anglo American and Spanish customers in mind? For a more ballanced and complete book on the subject i would rather refer to the excellent publication "Koerstrui!" by John Van Ierland and Evert de Rooij, showing no less than 1.250 jerseys from all over the world, some of them on a single page with a matching article. It is in Dutch but 80% are images so the language should be no reason for not buying that book.
