This book is a great find not only because it will guide you through learning Fair Isle (if a novice) but also contains the most extensive set of individual patterns I have yet come across. The book is a bit dated (most photography is in black and white and there is some rather awful 70s modelling) but is a great read for all that. Great if you want to combine your own patterns rather than follow a pre-made chart.

The title of this book says it all. A practical book with lots of information. Yes, the format is a bit dated but the essence of Fair Isle knitting remains the same. Very useful for designing pattern combinations of choice.

Clear instructions to tempt the reluctant knitter to attempt these bygone patterns. Beautifully presented book that I can recommend. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I have not read it yet but I flicked through it and was impressed that it gave the history of Fair Isle knitting as well as patterns.

Good reference book for anyone needing patterns to add fair Isle patterns to a knitting project or to inspire a project
