This is a lovely book with many detailed well illustrated pictures - brilliant for adults or older children as the details are quite small. Interesting and informative descriptions on each page of the costumes and how they were worn. I've ordered myself 3 more in the series and am sending one of them to a colouring f.book pal in Indonesia. I'm sure she will enjoy as much as me

I bought this book in a deal with another concerning Tudor costume. As it was advertised as a colouring book I did not hold out too much hope for its actual usefulness.
However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The book's illustrations are excellent and extremely useful. Never mind it being a colouring book, the black and white line format is clear and good for showing details that you might miss in a painting. With several different classes of Tudor citizen shown for each "slice" of time, the book manages to show a pleasingly broad spectrum of costumes, from peasant to royalty.
As an academic guide the book falls down on its lack of accompanying textual description, but then that is not what it sets out to be. As a purely visual illustration and reference it is excellent.

This historical colorbook is truely wonderfull if you are interested in fashion throughout the ages. You learn how fashion changed during a short periode of time and the comments to the drawings are really educational. Child and adult alike can find much pleasure in this item. However a few of the drawrings can be seen in other products by the same auther which makes it a 4 star product.

Purchase this for my Daughter who likes this period in history. However, this item has use issues. ie: when used with quality felt tip pens ( supplied by Amazon ) the colours bleed through the paper and ruin the picture on the obverse page, rendering it useless. You effectively only have half a useful book As some people will no doubt wish to keep their work, they will have to choose carefully. The good points are the book is well presented will some good illustrations, but it can only have half marks because it's only half a book!

The drawings are not well done and faces look like cartoons. I wouldn't recommend!

Bought this book for a granddaughter who was delighed with it. She started colouring in the beautifully illustrated pictures with watercolour pencils. The colours brought the illustrations to life. It is a good way to learn the fashion of the period.

I bought this because my daughter was studying the Tudors and she found it very helpful as a guide to what they wore, plus she has enjoyed colouring in the costumes. You know what you're getting with this series, but it certainly delivers.
