Im usually lost in my lectures for applied mechanics, but weh n igo home and go through this book (even though its time consuming) i understand more then what i did previously. The worked examples are excellent, as they give you a variety of way of solving a problem i.e graphically, algerbraically or using othe rnew methods. This and its counterpart are a must have for self learning.

It is an engineering text book. It is hard work to read and use, but engineering has never been easy. It adequately covers the relevant areas of Statics

This book is horrible. The examples are not helpful and there are only one or two per problem set. Also, the text is hard to follow. The only good part about the book is that it has some challenging and interesting problems. If I didn't have such an awesome professor, I wouldn't be able to do them based on the information in the book alone. This is a subject where good examples can make all the difference in understaning the material. The book simply doesn't get it done.
