A fabulous book. Although Ms Kirk's work is available free on-line as a university dissertation, the illustrations in this book make it an exceptionally worthwhile acqusition. If it is an understanding of the life and work of Philip Webb you are seeking, look no further.

I would have given it 5 stars, but personally found the text a bit small and the introductory graphics somewhat intrusive. Also the archive photographs are generally rather small.

This book has really done justice to the work of Philip Webb. Beautifully illustrated with old plans and drawings as well as new photography, this is a must-read for any architecture or Arts & Crafts fan. Delving into Webb's interesting private life as well as his work, it creates a really vivid picture of a trully fascinating individual, who in my opinion has been unjustly overlooked in the many chronicles of the Arts & Crafts Movement. This book however has more than filled this void.
