This book is essentially an intermediate grammar reference. It covers quite a lot of ground including verb forms, participles, cases, and particles. I have looked at a portion of the book from a number of different chapters and reckon I have seen enough to form an opinion. The author approaches grammatical concepts in an accessible way for the layman self teacher, citing examples in English before delving into the Arabic. He gives exercises in each chapter, and answer keys are provided. Arabic vowelled script is used along with transliteration. As a lower intermediate self-learner, I have found this book valuable. An excellent and inexpensive tool for those who have, for example, completed the Mastering Arabic series by Wightwick and Gaafar.
