This is an exceptionally good book. It is written, predominantly by health care professionals who specialise in the pre-hospital field. It is recommended by different universities and personally I have found it to be easy to read. It covers a multitude of different conditions and potential problems you may face and how to address them. Highly recommended for paramedics, paramedic practitioners and emergency care practitioners as well as other healthcare professionals who work in both urban and rural environments
This should be a standard paramedic text alongside Nancy Caroline. It covers the more minor medical problems that paramedics are attending more and more frequently in the UK. It lists red flags to ensure that a patient is managed safely.
The material covered includes: chest pain; shortness of breath; paediatric emergencies; abdominal pain; ENT problems; itch and rash; care of the older patient; musculoskeletal problems; neurological problems; and psychiatric problems
I wish I'd had this text as a new paramedic as I think I would have found this far more useful on a day to day basis than any of the standard paramedic emergency care texts
