From looking at the cover you'd think that this was a children's book to be seen along side Roald Dahl, but you be wrong. The books in this series are quite dark with a large amount of violence not indicated by either the title or the cover art. That said I loved the books. The plot was complex, the action kept flowing and took you from the fairy tale beginnings to the dirt and grime such stories leave out. Roll out the murders, poisonings, pirates and assassins.
Second book of the instalment ...a mix of intriguing story, mystery, action , humour and romance...low on romance very understated ...but lovely...a twist at the end that's hinted at but still surprises ...worth a read...will keep and rad again
The first book, Decoy princess was good, presenting the interesting meta-plots of the master players at court politics. This sequel is even better! It is a well told story and the plots deepen. I could not put it down once I started reading it. Dawn Cook just keeps on getting better and better!
