I am a fan of Mary Balogh. I love her Signet books in particular. Although her recent Bedwyn series didn't do anything for me, I still want to support Ms Balogh and hoping this one will capture my imagination. I am not going into the detail of the story since it has been written about extensively in other reviews, but the way the story has been told left me a bit cold. I suppose it was written in the "back to basic" tradition of Jane Austin, it was well written but it just felt uninspiring and had a been-there-done-that feel to it. It didn't help that I found Christine was a bit ordinary and Wulfric was too stiff. The lack of warm in their relationship made the love affair Christine and Wulfric didn't feel convincing. Having said that, a so-so book by Ms Balogh is miles better than many others out there. All in all, I found this well-written book "Slightly Boring".
