TOP 1000 REVIEWERVINE VOICEon 10 May 2012
Kyle Rhodes is an heir to a billionaire, a millionaire computer genius in his own right, and more commonly known as the Twitter Terrorist.

Rylann Pierce is a top Assistant US Attorney (AUSA), recently returned to Chicago and known amongst her colleagues as Meth-Lab Rylann.

Yet when these two come face-to-face across a courtroom on the day of Kyle's official release, it's not the first time they've met. Nine years ago a walk home and a moment of surprising chemistry led to the date that never was. Now all these years later they're different people, in different places, yet that chemistry is hotter than ever. But can an ex-con and an AUSA ever find love? And if they do, how will they dare ever tell anyone about it?

Julie James returns with another of her FBI linked novels. The link is fairly tenuous, though we do get glimpses of both Jack and - Rylann's new boss - Cameron (Something About You), as well as Nick and - Kyle's twin sister - Jordan (A Lot Like Love). Despite the links, though, this story is most definitely all about Kyle and Rylann.

Actually, unlike the previous novels, there's no single underlying crime plot here. Instead we just have Kyle and Rylann adjusting to the fresh changes in their lives, while also attempting to deal with the heat between them. Which works perfectly, in my opinion.

They're a funny pair, quick with their quips, though Rylann is more sarcastic, while Kyle leans towards light-hearted. She likes a well-planned life and he's more spontaneous, but they balance each other beautifully. There's plenty of James' usual humour sprinkled amidst the legal issues and computer geekery. Add in a sprinkle of romance and loads of heat and you can't ask for more.

Actually, if I had one niggle it would be that there might have been a little too much of Rylann's legal life. While it was nice to have James back in the more familiar lawyer role that was missing in her last book, at the same time it was just too much legalese at times. Having said that, it was only a minor quibble and it meant we got to see Agent Wilkins again, which is always fun.

Another enjoyable winner from a great author. I'd love to have more of Agent Wilkins' meet-cute or clueless lawyer Cade Morgan next. But that's the problem with reading these books so soon after release - it means a long wait for the next one.

The first night they met, Rylann Pierce tried to shrug off the attraction she felt for Kyle Rhodes. Yet after one incredible kiss it was hard to dismiss. After being stood up, she figured she would never see him again.

Nine years later, Rylann is a top U.S. attorney and ready to get her life back in order after a bad break up. Then who should walk into her courtroom and back into her life but Kyle. The attraction's still there but this time he's an ex-con and her star witness in a murder trial. Rylann's career has always come first but she's coming to realise that her life might need to be shaken up a bit and Kyle's just the man to do it!

I have been a huge fan of Julie James since reading her first book and this one just cements her as an exceptional contemporary writer and one of my all time favourites.

Kyle first appeared in James' previous book, A Lot Like Love, which featured his twin sister's story. You don't have to have read that book or any of the others to understand and like this book although if you have read it then Jordan and Nick (as well as some of the supporting cast and Cameron and Jack from Something about You) make brief appearances which is always fun.

I'm always looking for a heroine that I can both like and root for and Rylann fits the bill. She's sassy, fiesty, fun and sarcastic yet retains a vulnerability that makes her extremely likeable. She's also smart and works hard which I like a lot. Kyle is a hard working, sexy and passionate man and one that I couldn't help but fall for. He may be an ex-con but don't let this put you off! Together the pair have such spark, chemistry and the banter was genius and had me laughing out loud on occasion.

Once again this book is set in the world of lawyers, the FBI and everything that entails. The storyline is realistic yet never getting bogged down in detail and makes for a book that I just couldn't put down. The storyline flows nicely and there's always something new to keep your interest. This is the kind of book that makes you want to live the characters lives and I finished it feeling rejuvenated while also feeling very sad that I couldn't keep reading.

If you like smart romances with sparkle and wit then I can't recommend this book highly enough. It's a real page turner and one which I enjoyed immensely. A very well deserved 5 stars.

I'm a huge fan of this series and really enjoyed this book. The banter between the characters is funny and it's also great to catch up with characters from the previous two books. The love s genes are HOT and fit perfectly into the story. I can't wait to read book 4

I really enjoyed the previous books by Ms James, they were fun, great characters and story lines. This book was disappointing. It failed to be gripping or interest me with characters. The male was a convicted of being a cyber terrorist and the female is the assistant DA. It was promising but fell so flat and was bored by it.

I really like Julie James' she's carved herself out a respectable little niche in this market and is edging towards Rachel Gibson status with each book. I was looking forward to this one and it was fun, sexy, sweet and great escapism.

Let me just say, best book ever!!! the previous book was a bit of a let down..it was 80% of her usual effort it seems..but this, is out of the world..a heroine who is smart, beautiful, sassy, feisty and sarcastically funny..perfection!! love the dialogue, the story line, EVERYTHING!!!
