There are many academic books on estimating and to be fair most are pretty good. They cover the processes that estimating should follow in the prescriptive manner that it has always been. What's different about Brian's book is that his approach is slightly different in that he approaches estimating from a 'where are construction costs incurred' view point in a very readable way. His industry experience shines through. Doing it this way ensures the reader knows the true nature of construction costs and as such can begin to understand how these costs have to be estimated for.
I would recommend this book to any student on quantity surveying and building degrees who have to get to grips with estimating. Get cost understanding right and the rest all falls into place.
