The latest edition of this book is excellent. It is so much more than a reworking of the previous edition. As a teacher educator, I particularly enjoyed the brand new chapters from new contributors as well as the authoritative chapters by the established experts. It is up-to-date and, indeed, ahead of the game by providing not only a wealth of excellent practical ideas, but also very accessible and thoughtful accounts of the theoretical underpinnings of classroom practice. It is ideal for any student teacher on an M level PGCE, or qualified English teacher pursuing a Masters in Teaching and Learning. The recommended reading in each chapter is especially comprehensive and extremely helpful.
Davison and Dowson have done it again. I can understand why this book has been essential reading on PGCE courses for the past decade. Well done!
A good publication inspiring finding your own answers to various questions regarding the subject. I appreciate the recognition that there are multiple approaches to students and their needs thus encouraging finding your own inner teacher and channelling your strenghts whilst being aware that we are not all the same, we do not respond to the same stimuli. Refreshing.
