I am fluent in Swedish (I trained as an EU interpreter, with Swedish as a working language) and I attribute this largely to Colloquial Swedish.
Logically set out, each chapter builds on previous ones - by the time you reach the end, you will be able to understand written and spoken Swedish in a variety of situations.
To really conquer a new language, I recommend starting with teacher-led classes, but after just a few lessons, this book/CD course is great for self-study.

I don't recommend it if you are just beginning with swedish, it's a really bad introduction. Lessons are harsh and boring.
It's good if you want to learn new vocabulary and expressions for everyday life, and to improve your reading comprehension, as it contains a lot of texts about swedish lifestyle and culture.
