1066 and All That [Paperback]
W.C. Sellar (Author), R.J. Yeatman (Author)

The one book that makes me laugh aloud despite having read it often over the years. It promises to be all the history anyone remembers ten years after leaving school (actually my history was like this AT school) but instead it's a glorious romp full of running gags, joke test questions that get sillier as the book goes on and - for admirers of wordsmiths - a nonstop treat. Brilliant nonsense. A "dipper" book that you can read in fits anytime or just pick it up and start in the middle.

Dated humour. I found it quite funny. It baffled my 10 year old grandson.

Still a good irreverent view of history, entertaining and educational.

a good idea badly implemented.

Perhaps the most overrated book in history.

A splendidly humorous précis of the key / memorable moments of British history; written by people who must have read or been told the facts at some point, but can't quite recall them accurately at the moment.
Unfortunately, the book is spoiled by some dreadful publishing.

I lost my original book years ago so went back in time to my school-days to read it again. Still makes me laugh out loud although today's kids may not have learned about English history the way my generation did and would not find it funny at all.. ..
