This is one of the funniest things I ever read. Coward's characters are full of live and wit and the whole plot - concerning the preparations of a royal visit to the island of Samolo - is hilarious from start. There are a few passages which I still laugh at when I remember them - the airport scene is unbeatable.
By recovering a few characters of an under-rated play ("South Sea Bubble") he makes the link between his work as a playwriter and as a novelist. If you know his short-stories you might find this quite lighter, much more nearer the witty world the plays from the late 20's and 30's. Anyway - Don't miss the chance of very good laughs!
