This book is a terrific way to celebrate the poetic achievments of Anne Sexton. Beginning with "To Bedlam and Part Way Back" and ending with "Words for Dr. Y," this book not only chronicles the unstoppable growth of her talent but also her personal struggles in life. It is especially fascinating for those English majors, like me, who study confessional poetry. Anne Sexton is one of the foremost American poets of the twentieth century.
An absolute must have collection. The poems are raw and can often feel a little tough; you don't find many glimpses of fields of waving Daffodils here, but this is a unique voice who had something to say that many of us would wish not to hear.
