A throughly entertaining novel.

This is, so far, my favourite Amelia Peabody novel. It combines all the well loved elements of the previous books and more. Many of the characters verge on being immortal , the parody sections are spot on and even though it is never completely serious in style or deals with as many serious issues as the later books, it still manages to convey real sentiments and the description suceeds in creating some very atmospheric moments. It is also a very humourous book, with some memorable one-liners and events.
There are also plenty of plot twists and it has an great storyline in general. This novel will appeal greatly to existing fans and well as making new ones.
