This book is about Thor Heyerdahl's first adventure that would eventually lead him to carry the Kon Tiki expedition 10 years later. It tells about Thor as a young man setting off to a small and isolated Polynesian island with his new bride. A lot of funny (and scary) things happened during their interaction with the local people but they did make friends for life. The sad thing about reading this book is probably realizing that the world Thor Heyerdahl encountered then no longer exist today. Like his other books, the adventure itself was exhilirating and I felt like I should quit my job the next day and set foot exploring the world. But personally I think Thor Heyerdahl should just be an adventurer and leave the part of writing it to someone else. There are too many repetition on the facts and the story line doesn't really flow smoothly. But I still recommend this book for all of you that still have a little dream of a beautiful world.
