This is the second of the Shadow Keepers series that I have read, although it's the sixth book. The other book I have read was the fourth in the series. Fortunately the author makes each book work as a standalone novel and any necessary back story is provided in a very discrete way.
What's interesting about this series is that the author seems to choose a different paranormal as the hero for each book. The story includes lots of vampires, werewolves, Djinn etc and in this book we are introduced to Ryan Doyle the paradaemon.
In some ways the fact that Doyle isn't human is a subsidiary part of this book. It focuses more on a group of people who are fighting against all vampires and other creatures, with Doyle infiltrating the group. Doyle's path crosses with reporter Andrea (Andy) Tarrent, who reminds him of a past love but who may be the one to help him deal with that past. But as Doyle and Andy are drawn into the world of terrorists, their safety is significantly threatened. And will Andy be able to deal with what she eventually learns about Doyle?
I really enjoyed reading this book. It had excellent pacing and was always interesting as the plot gradually unfolded. Andy was a very likeable character with an amazingly phlegmatic ability to cope with whatever is thrown at her. Doyle, too, was appealing in his care for humans.
Some of the characters from other books appear in this one but the main focus was always on Doyle and Andy and the plot within which they become embroiled. This book is definitely worth a read for those who enjoy paranormal romances.
I purchased these after I had read another book by the same author and was curious. It seemed appropriate the purchase the whole series and was able to do so from a single seller. They arrived pretty quickly and were packaged excellently resulting in no damage to the books. I was extremely pleased with the service and the price was reasonable for the amount I purchased (six books in total). I would definately use this seller again!
