This is a very readable discussion of the basic tenets of Christian belief and how they have arrived via the Bible and the early church. It appealed to me as someone who wants to find meaning in the Christian way of life but has difficulty accepting many of the Christian tenets of faith (virgin birth, resurrection etc). This book shows the relativity and the origins of some of these beliefs and discusses the language we use to express them. It alternates between discussion of the beliefs and explanation of the issues they raise (eg is the Bible true! ). It provides a thought provoking, but short and easy to access debate that strengthened my view that we should interpret Christian belief in the way that best helps us live our lives with others.
