.on French cheese. 560 pages covering the cheeses of France by region. A masterly work which should be in the collection of anyone who likes cheese. Although I admit I tend to reference it after I have bought something rather than before! Lots of maps but no pictures of cheese - which is actually rather a relief from those cookery books where the recipes run second to the illustrations.

Lovely and lengthy introduction by Jane Grigson.
