What can one say about any Billy Collins collection, except that as a fan I enjoy everything he writes. I love his quirky take on life and experience, also that he's not afraid to tackle any subject, from the lightest to the darkest. He makes reading poetry an exquisite pleasure.

Brilliant collection from Billy, he makes the mundane events in life seem interesting, never hurried, poems about the illness of his dog ,lying under the stars at night and the title poem Horoscopes for the Dead itself leave the reader wanting more. As Adrian Mitchell wrote "most people ignore poetry because poetry ignores most people" this is poetry never to be ignored.Best of all you won't be turning to the dictionary every two minutes to find definitions of words you have never heard or are likely to use.

Another 50 or so wonderfully idiosyncratic, urbane poems. Billy Collins' original and inventive take on life, and essential reading for those requiring intellectual refreshment.

I'd only heard him on audio so it was a treat to enjoy his works and savour them on the page - he is very laid back but hits the spot with acute wit
