Interesting, sometimes refreshing, round up
14 May 2015
I enjoyed reading this, but it is a bit light on original sources for reference or substance. A witty, engaging writer with perhaps a less formal style, although the character assassination, and cynical put downs do become somewhat wearing, and sometimes inappropriate. Witty comments on the famous, involved in difficult, sometimes poorly informed decision making. On balance an interesting perspective, with (the nature of history books I suppose) a rather cynically deployed hindsight. Worth a read, puts certain matters in (a different) perspective. A review and sometimes a reinterpretation of other peoples' work.
