Its a great yarn and the historical elements of ancient Egypt are interesting but would a slave really be so influential with the pharaoh? In addition would he really be able to act as a GP, a fortune teller, an inventor, a vet and learn foreign languages in just a few weeks? The more the book goes on the less I can relate to it.

I hated this book. It's not thr Wilbur Smith that I know. Definitely won't be getting any more of the Egyptian series

Not Smith's greatest fan by a long way, but I rate the Egyptian series. Well readable.
