I enjoyed this book very much. It was easy to read, giving clear to understand examples. It draws attention to the main points for achieving web design for ROI, which makes the book good for reference. However it does not provide extensive how-to, rather it is food for thought and issues to draw ones attention.
The book is for everyone who contributes to the creation of a web site. Programmers and designers will not find any technical tips, but rather a better understanding of what a "selling web site" is. Managers might find it useful in understanding why designer has made a particular solution/layout/images of the site. So all in all, havind this book might help all paties (management vs designers or management vs programers etc etc) to understand each other better.

Really bad! I work as a UX Designer and Researcher and try to read a lot of books on design. This one interested me as something a little different from the usual UX/Service design books - and I thought it might help me to understand the minds of the marketeers a bit better (with whom us UX Designers can sometimes clash). All this book taught me is that the authors don't really know what they're talking about. The examples (presumably found in 2008) are massively out of date, as are their theories and best practices. The points made are repetitive and overly simple and I can definitely say that, as someone working in the web design industry, I have not learned a single thing from this book. Desperately needs updating - at LEAST with modern examples - for this to be worth buying. It's no wonder you can buy a copy second-hand for 80p.

As a web designer/developer, I found this book saying so many right things. I think any business with a website important to them should read this book and all web designers/developers should do their best to educate their clients to the principles contained within.

I felt much of the latter half of the book was very focused on ecommerce sites, so won't be useful to everyone, although the more general first-half makes the book worth buying in itself.

This is a great book and I will recommend it in the future without a doubt.

If only these topics had been discussed when I was studying at University!

It would have made a massive difference!

Just another book giving all the same old advice about web site optimization. As usual look for the authors own web site and see how it performes in Google, this one like all the other "experts" is nowhere to be found! If they really know how to do the job they profess to experts at, why can't they get their own sites to the top of the search results?
