I nearly stopped after the first chapter as it was so bizarre. As I had a plane to catch and not a lot else to do I continued reading. It got worse, although in a strange way I got used to it after a while. I wouldn't say this book is based on what could happen in real life, there's just that sheen of fantasy that drifts over so much of it. If you like the impossible or unbelievable being depicted as ordinary then it might suit you.
This was my first Mark Barrowcliffe book, and I expect will be my last too. Why? Although there is definatly tallent there as a writer, Lucky Dog is just too out of this world.
