I would advise anyone to give this book a wee go, I could not put it down. Norma Wallace was a flawed but an amazing woman, I laughed and cried at her life. She was surrounded by amazing characters, from her 5 husbands to her friends, ladies, dates and adversaries.
This was an interesting and"historical" book, it not only looked at life as a madam but also showed changes in politics, lifestyle and morals over five decades. I had never heard of Norma before but I will now read more about this amazing business woman.
An interesting read about Norma Wallace, a noted Madam of NOLA's prostitution trade. Born into an incredibly poor family, her story of her work, schemes, patrons, lovers and husbands is truly fascinating. Unfortunately, it is told in a slow, rambling style that is frustrating to read at times.
