Significantly larger than the previous edition (that was about the same size but covered both parts of the county), much better illustrations including many plans.
The original Pevsners were a great achievement, but they were often done in a bit of a hurry and there were rarely any plans. The late and greatly missed Nicholas Antram produced an excellent 'Pevsner City Guide' to Brighton and Hove, much if not all of which has made it into this volume. The rest of the county is covered in the same scholarly, thorough and quietly opinionated way. In the many entries I have read on this my own county, I have found much of interest and nothing of importance has been omitted. A great achievement.

Much more detail than the old (East-and-West Sussex) volume though less convenient for carrying round when you're travelling. Now seems to contain every church, of whatever architectural merit, and a lot of free-standing sculptures.
