This series of books should be full of fascinating and detailed information, but in truth they never come across as anything but an exercise in how to design and complete the appropriate checklist for a conservation project. Rather like one imagines a Soviet handbook on conservation would have been, had they any interest in such things! Its a shame really, but you get the feeling that the authors of the various chapters would never have condescended to do anything as mundane as practical conservation! Probably ideal if you want to impress a funding body with your proceedures, but if you want to find anything practical, look elsewhere - maybe something from Donhead, who do it so much better.
