No matter whether you have to study risk management for business school or whether you just have a general interest in it, this book should be used as THE starting point. The mathematics of the matter are not touched at all, instead sound and easily understandable definitions and explanations of the concepts of risk management are given (after all, this is also the title of the book). Therefore, the reader quickly gains knowledge about the complexity of risk management. The reference lists that are given in the book provide an excellent basis for further diving into the subject. Readers that are more interested in the mathematics of the subject, should refer to Mastering Risk: Volume 2.

I'm an MBA student and Risk Management is one of the areas of my specialisation. "Mastering Risk" is the most professionally written and universal guides in Risk Management. Not only it contains very definitive and precise explanations of all kind of risks occurring in the modern society, but it also helps you to understand the nature of these risks. The book refers to such fundamental works in the development of Risk Management as "Risk Society" by Ulrich Beck. Author thoroughly analyses such issues as Risk Measurement, Risk Categorisation and Risk Perception. He virtually covers all areas of Risk Management you can think of. The most unique feature of this book is that all sientific notions and definitions are explained in plain language understandable to almost everyone. We face risk situations on a daily, or even hourly basis and this publication could really be an answer to an old question "What if?..." I'm definitely looking forward to purchasing the second part of this work.
