AIMS OF THE BOOK
The aims of A NEW REVIEW OF PITMAN SHORTHAND are to review the theory in fifteen easy-to-understand, non-technical chapters; to give a review of short forms (and this includes contractions) and phrases, and to link these signs with the basic theory; to provide ample application material, designed to be meaningful as related to purposeful reading, dictation, and systematic skill building.
Certain rules have been omitted, for example diphones, where it is felt the learning should come through an entirely practical rather than a theoretical approach.
A real effort has been made to give the student theory application exercises not only meaningful as related to the theory content, but also of general interest. There are two long passages in each chapter. One of these sets of passages ranges
