This is actually a biography that's well worth reading of a general whose reputation plummeted after a disastrous military operation he commanded in the First World War when everything including an unexpected snow blizzard went wrong. The Australians whose ANZAC servicemen suffered enormous casualties as a result have never forgiven him. They seemingly have done everything they could to drag his name through the mud ever since.
The copy I ordered turned out to have belonged to Wigan Library. Perhaps it was stolen. Whether it was or wasn't, it shouldn't have been put on sale through Amazon. If Wigan don't want it there are other libraries that have military history on their shelves that would perhaps be pleased to be offered this one.
