I am only glad that it was given to me
on 21 May 2016
This is the first Catherine Alliott book I've read (only got halfway, actually, I had to put it down in disgust). I am only glad that it was given to me, and that I didn't pay good money for it. I am astonished that she is so popular, when she presents her main character as a cretinous, inane idiot who doesn't know her ankle from her elbow - or any other part of her anatomy! The character staggers from one self-inflicted disaster to another. This writer ought to be ashamed of herself, portraying women in that degrading way - do you know any women like this character? I certainly don't, and if I did, I would be worried they should start being mentally evaluated by a psychiatrist. Nobody could be that stupid and still be able to live in the modern world, let alone bring up a child. There are many, many great women authors out there who are supremely worth reading, but judging by this tripe, Catherine Alliott is not one of them!
