5 years after Masquerade, Kit Williams has succeeded again with another tremendous book. What a pity that he has not produced another in the last 25 years. The paintings are breathtaking and something new can always be found when one returns to them. The premise of this book was to find the title but after a quarter of a century, it is generally known and readers can try to work the puzzle out backwards by reading the story of Ambrose the bee-keeper and the four seasons and by studying the incredibly detailed pictures and then seeing if one can find the answer to:"But my name remains a secret, It's hidden and within". Incredibly, when the book was published it had no title whatsoever - it must have been a publisher's nightmare. Anyway the puzzle was finally solved by a few skilful readers and the winner was announced on the Wogan show way back in the 80's. Read and enjoy - there has never been another book like it although the recent trilogy by Mike Wilks comes close.
As always Kit Williams quirky illustrations keep you guessing for a while, my grandchildren love looking for the animals hidden in the pictures. Not so keen on the prose but the pictures are thought provoking and so well painted.Delivery is always so much quicker than I expect so no problem there.
