A very easy to read treatise, slightly tongue in cheek, but probably based on observation and fact, of how the young deported themselves in London circa 1830. Single females of all types are written about with enthusiasm by Charles Dickens, himself in his own youth. Same with young men, but it also explains the courtship rituals and intrigues that surrounded liaisons of this nature in those far off days. This book can be found usually as an addition to other stories by Dickens, usually squeezed in at the rear of some other volume, this edition however, is rather grander than that. Some line drawings by Phizz, and an introduction of a few pages makes this a stand alone book of some merit. I thoroughly enjoyed it...
