Top critical review
Buying this book would be criminal.

No idea why this book is well reviewed. It is completely colourless, reads like a story rather than a textbook, the passages are massive and completely off putting to read. Nothing is in one place, if you want to read about classical criminology then have fun searching for about 60 pages dotted through out the entire book, nightmare if you want to look up information quickly. The reference lists are dotted through out the text at the end of chapters, so if you want to look up a certain study, it takes about 15 minutes to actually find it. I would usually just use the index to search for them in this case but no, the index absolutely terribly, it is done in a really complex fashion and is tiny! Thus far I have searched for about 14 words in there, none of which the writers bothered to include. Basically it is a great example of how textbooks were written 50 years ago, long, dull and impossible to get to where you want. It's best use is as a prefect example of how NOT to write a textbook.
If you want a really droll read and to make university as torturous as miserable as possible, this is definitely the book for you.
