Only for fans of Renaissance Drama...
on 21 January 2013
For those who are enraptured by Shakespeare's works, and cannot get enough of him, then I would suggest you turn to his Muse and master, Mr Thomas Kyd, the originator of the Revenge Tragedy in England. This play deals with all the best parts of revenge tragedies, from ghosts, bloody murders every other act, gory scene descriptions (the first scene is very eloquent on the subject of beheading, dismembering...)
In fact, the only thing to say, is if you are a fan of Shakespeare's 'Titus Andronicus' and 'Hamlet' then read this, as Shakes nicked at least one scene from this play and split it over the two (he didn't even bother to hide it when he 'borrowed' from Marlowe's 'Jew of Malta')
If you are new to Renaissance tragedy, and want something that will get your heart pumping, then this is for you. Either way, it is a must. You MUST read it!! :D x
