Suckered in by the good reviews...
on 5 June 2018
Really didn't like this book, annoyed I paid £8 for this, and was suckered in by all of the good reviews. Not a difficult read in terms of complexity, I just think it isn't very well written, and it felt outdated (I assume the author is in his 80's). A few interesting chapters, but I felt it was a bit like The Art of War - everyone says it's one of those books you must read at some point, but they are just boring. It felt more like a book on a university reading list than something you would read on the train to work. While it may be mildly interesting why adverts in blue font are remembered more than if in green, or why bold font is more believable than italic, you sort of think afterwards (when 10 hours have been invested reading this book)... who cares? If you like this sort of book - try "The Idiot Brain" by Dean Burnett instead. Similar themes and a much better read.
