Laxdaela is the most classically romantic of the sagas. Though it lacks the philosphical richness of Egil's Saga or the majestic sweep of Njal's saga, it remains one of the most accessible for those unacquainted with the literature. The ending is very poignant in typically understated Icelandic fashion.

Laxdaela Saga was quite difficult to get hold off, but it arrived quickly and I am pleased with the book.

I have read the saga twice and found it a thoroughly excellent read. It was required reading for an online course regarding the early Icelandic settlers.
